★ Do you make your metal pieces by hand? I don't, sadly. I do design all of my pieces by hand and work with a metal manufacturer to make my metal pieces!
★ How do you care for metal? You can wipe off smudges and things with a microfiber cloth if you'd like! All metal is metal plated, and the plating can corrode with time if liquid is applied. All metal should be able to be cleaned with just a dry microfiber cloth. However, if you need something stronger, I recommend the cleaner Flitz!
★ Is metal fragile? It really shouldn't be. Some things like the pin back needles can snap if used very, very roughly. However everything should be welded to be strong. The necklace or keychain is liable to break before the piece will.
★ What's the wear and tear on metal and enamel look like? Most metal can be scratched by other metal objects. Hard enamel will rarely show blemishes. Any printed details (UV or screen) can be scratched away over time. Epoxy over enamel can become hazy over time (from scratches, but it does not yellow or cloud otherwise).
★ My metal corroded, is there anything I can do? Usually no. You can try cleaning it with Flitz as described above. My metal is plated metal, meaning the core metal is a different metal and then the colored metal is layered on top (which is normal for all enamel/metal pins). If the metal wears away, there will still be metal underneath but it is usually a dull silver color.
